ROSACEA & FACIAL FLUSHING

WHAT IS ROSACEA?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition predominantly affecting the central face and most often starts between the age of 30–60 years.

Rosacea is common and is characterised by persistent facial redness. It may produce small, red and pus-filled bumps on the skin often misdiagnosed as acne.  It typically has a relapsing and remitting course, with symptoms controlled by lifestyle measures, general skin care, medications, and procedural interventions.

This chronic disorder requires careful medical attention for effective rosacea treatment and control.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF ROSACEA?

The exact cause of rosacea is unknown and the precise cause of rosacea remains elusive, with researchers proposing several potential factors. These include irregularities in facial blood vessels and reactions to microscopic mites, commonly found on the face. Despite the uncertainty, understanding these possible influences aids in managing and treating the condition effectively.
