Short for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, HIFU treatment is a non-surgical facelift treatment that lifts and tightens the skin.

HIFU therapy uses concentrated waves of ultrasound energy to precisely target deeper layers of tissue, leaving the skin surface undamaged. The technology induces an tissue coagulation that triggers wound healing and contraction, followed by a tighter and more uniform buildup of collagen fibers. Ultrasound energy can also target subcutaneous fat layers, reducing the prominence of areas with unwanted fat buildup.

HIFU treatment uses ultrasound to create heat at a deep level in the skin

On the exterior, patients can expect diminished wrinkles, reduced sagging, and improved facial contours within weeks and lasting for months following the procedure. As a non-invasive procedure, HIFU treatment delivers gradual and natural results with no downtime and minimal risk of unwanted side effects.

HIFU treatment uses ultrasound to create heat at a deep level in the skin and HIFU therapy is suitable for both men and women.

How Long Does HIFU Treatment Last?

Our thorough guide takes you through the typical duration of HIFU treatments, highlighting how this non-invasive approach can yield benefits that endure for up to 1 year. Explore the factors that contribute to the one-year longevity of HIFU therapy results, providing you with valuable insights for the months following the treatment.

A numbing cream will be applied prior to HIFU facial lifting treatment to minimise any potential discomfort. There can be a pulling or tingling sensation every time energy is delivered, which will vary according to the depth of tissue and area of the face being treated.

During the HIFU Facial lifting treatment proper, ultrasound gel is applied to allow the handpiece to glide and ensure adequate contact for transmission of the ultrasound waves. The ultrasound energy is applied line by line, using different handpieces to target the appropriate depths. The total number of lines or shots required will depend on the areas being treated, size of the face, and the condition of the skin.

Following the procedure, there may be some transient redness or swelling but this will often resolve on its own within a few minutes to an hour. There is typically no associated downtime and patients can resume their normal activities immediately thereafter. Makeup, usual skincare, and appropriate sun protection can all be resumed post-treatment.
