Botox / Dysport are Neuromodulators
Neuromodulator (Botox/Dysport ) treatments are “Botox treatments”. These treatments consist of using non-surgical wrinkle-relaxing injections of lab-treated botulinum toxin. This kind of purified botulinum toxins is from bacteria sources. Botox has a fascinating history as in naturally-occurring doses.
Neuromodulators work by blocking nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected. With those nerve signals disrupted, the impacted muscle is frozen or temporarily paralyzed. Without motion of these selected muscles in the face, inevitable wrinkles might be smoothened, reduced, and even removed. Treatments made with botulinum toxic substance are sold under the trademark name Botox and Dysport. Botox is an American brand, while Dysport is a British brand.
BTX is a natural, purified protein that relaxes the muscles in the face that cause wrinkles. It is a safe and simple method to reduce wrinkles, smooth fine lines, and softly contour the jawline while providing a fresher, more youthful overall look. It blocks muscle contraction signals in nerves from being sent to muscles. Widely used to achieve a slimmer jawline by injecting BTX into the masseter muscles. Achieve overall facial slimming and wrinkle reduction with micro-injections of BTX via and advanced technique.
WHAT ARE NEUROMODULATORS USED?
Neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) only works on wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement. Hence these are called DYNAMIC wrinkles, and are typically called “expression lines”.
The most typical dynamic wrinkles are on the upper face, like frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. The most typical cause is muscular hyperactivity, which is the excessive contraction of the muscles in question.
Deep-set wrinkles such as the the “11” between the brows, horizontal lines on the forehead, and crow’s feet around the eyes are not removable by any form of topical solutions, despite advertising that always tries to persuade the public otherwise! These wrinkles are caused by smiling, frowning, squinting, and other facial expressions which have folded the skin over many years.
On the other hand, neuromodulators ( Botox/Dysport/ Xeomin ) does not work on fine lines and wrinkles that are brought on by drooping or loss of plumpness in the face. These are known as fixed wrinkles or STATIC wrinkles and are often the lines we find on the cheeks, neck, and jowl areas. In such cases, neuromodulators need to be combined with Hydration Fillers/Skin-boosters, Profhilo® or REJURAN® Healer/Baby Skin Injection to bring about many improvements.
Neuromodulators ( Botox/Dysport) function for a variety of facial rejuvenation techniques, including elevating the brow by treating the brow depressor muscles giving the eyes a more open, lifted look (which is why it is also known as a non-surgical brow lift). However, it is not a long-term treatment—repeated treatments required for ongoing wrinkle-reducing or rejuvenation effects.
Micro-Botox Face Lift
This technique is known as intradermal botox; Micro Botox is a botox-based technique targeted at the dermis (not muscles) in tiny diluted amounts, give the face a supple “luminous glass effect”.
This quick treatment improves fine lines, shrinks pore size, sweat glands and sebaceous glands, resulting in healthy, radiant-looking skin.
It can be done on the whole face or at targeted areas. Micro- Botox is injected just under the skin layers and not the muscles; it does not cause any loss of movement in significant facial muscles or ‘frozen expression’ as commonly known.
The Dermalift procedure is also known as the ‘liquid facelift “. It works by injecting a specially researched dilution of Dysport at the intra-dermal layer, instead of into the facial muscles. It is a procedure that gives you a natural-looking facelift result while retaining facial expression.
Through clinical research, doctors know that the Dermalift technique works by stimulating the fibroblast cells in the skin layer to cause tightening of collagen fibres. There is also a realignment of the cytoskeleton within the cellular matrix. The combination of the tightened collagen fibres with a realignment of the cytoskeleton gives a lifting effect to the face. Dermalift treatment is a quick ‘ lunchtime’ procedure, relatively safe with little downtime.
Face Shaping and Slimming
Neuromodulators ( Botox/Dysport ) can slim a wide squarish jawline by relaxing the thick blocks of chewing muscles at the sides of our face called masseter muscles. In so doing, the thick chunky masseter muscles relax and lose the bulkiness. As a result, the face looks slimmer and over repeated sessions, the face also attains a smaller shape. Used with fillers, this is the right treatment combination to achieve a more proportionate facial shape.
Who is this For?
The Dermalift procedure is also known as the ‘liquid facelift”. It started a trend in Korea as a quick, safe and effective lunchtime lift.
What Does It Do?
Dermalift provides a visible lift with tightening of mild to moderate sagging skin and helps to contour the face for an overall rejuvenated look It works by injecting a specially researched dilution of Dysport at the intra-dermal layer, instead of into the facial muscles. As it does not affect the muscles, this procedure gives you a natural-looking facelift result while retaining facial expressions.
How Does It Work?
Through clinical research, doctors know that the Dermalift technique works by stimulating the fibroblast cells in the skin layer to cause tightening of collagen fibres. The procedure works by injecting specially-diluted Dysport superficially into the skin layer (intra-dermally). This relatively simple treatment stimulates the fibroblast in the dermis and causes a realignment of the cytoskeleton that gives a lifting effect to the face. The results are tightened facial contours and visibly refined pores. The smoother skin surface gives better light reflection, creating the coveted Korean ”Dewy Glow” of clarity and radiance.
As it uses a diluted form of Dysport, it is a safe procedure with positive lifting effects without affecting natural facial expressions.
The treatment that tightens pores gives the skin a smooth glass look.
* decrease in the look of lines and wrinkles
* toned, raised and firmed facial muscles- especially around drooping lower eyelids and jowls
* firmer facial shapes
* tighter pores resulting in better-looking skin
* improved look of scars
* noticeably reduced puffiness and shadows around the eyes
DISTINCTIONS BETWEEN DERMALIFT & NORMAL BOTOX/DYSPORT
The main difference depends on injection techniques and the concentration used. Dermalift is a liquid facelift that is administered in the intradermal layers, while typical Botox/Dysport is delivered into the muscle layer. While regular Botox/Dysport intends to shrink and immobilized the muscle or to achieve a decrease in size (such as in jaw shaping Botox/Dysport procedures), Dermalift treatments are injected into the skin surface to promote a smoothening impact instead.
Regular Botox injections are targeted at facial muscles. A dermalift procedure targets intra-dermal (within the skin layer) points.
A regular Botox procedure is used mostly for wrinkles at one specific target area, i.e the frown lines, whereas the Dermalift procedure is used for an overall reduction in lines with a tightening and lifting effect of the whole face.
What results can I expect?
The results of neuromodulators are noticeable from the third day onwards for the smaller facial muscles. Dynamic wrinkles will disappear and static lines will appear softer — giving you a youthful look.
It takes up to 2 weeks to see the effects on larger muscles like the masseter and calf muscles.
Individual results may vary.
Is there any downtime after my treatment?
There is no downtime for this treatment other than injection-related effects like needle marks and in some instances, mild, temporary bruising.
Recommendations from the doctor
We recommend repeating neuromodulator injections every 3 to 6 months, depending on how quickly muscular hyperactivity returns.
While neuromodulators reduce the strength and activity of muscular contractions that contribute to the development of fine lines and wrinkles, complementing treatments such as Hydration Fillers/Skin-boosters, Profhilo® and Fillers to take care of other aspects of anti aging.
How soon can I see results?
You will be able to see subtle changes right after the procedure.
Optimal results will be seen by 2 weeks. We recommend 3-4 treatments per year.
As with most aesthetic treatments, the results are progressive and cumulative. You will see better and longer-lasting results with repeated treatments.
*individual results vary.
What should I take note of after the procedure?
Please remain upright for 6 hours after the Dermalift procedure to avoid diffusion of the injected product into other areas.
Do not massage the area for at least 3 days.
Please avoid alcohol and hot and spicy food for 24-48 hours after the procedure. Make up can be applied the next day.
Is it safe? Are there long term side effects?
There are no long term side effects.
Minor side effects such as tiny injection marks might last for about 1-2 days.
Is there any downtime?
There is minimal downtime for the Dermalift procedure. You can go about your normal activities after the procedure.
